Maps in the game are just kinda bad. Some aren't awful, but none are great. What you said is true. But I also have problems with map destructibility feeling like an illusion. Basically nothing comes down. Like most walls in the game are just completely indestructible. I was mainly playing engineer and starting off you only have the law and at mines.
